Lighting Showreel 2022

Most of these projects are part of my bachelor project, which I finished in february 2022.

My bachelor partner Caecilia-Isabella Glaas created the characters and Andreas Sekler did the animation of each shot, while my responsibility was to light and composite the assets and shots for the final product.

I tried to recreate the lighting of the initial concept art as close as possible to get a rather stylized, painterly look.

Princess Saiya

This sequence should convey an abstract and mysterious mood and feeling. The character is in an empty realm, where reality is not what it seems to be. The cold, blue lighting, caustics projected onto her face and glassy refraction effects are meant to put an emphasis on the surrealism of this scene.

Old Shrine

For this shot I created the environment, simulated the rain and did the lighting and compositing. The goal was to create a dramatic and moody scenery. I used the dark atmosphere outside the shrine to emphasize the interior as some kind of safe haven from the danger outside.
