The Impaler

Renfield is the insane and obsessive servant of Count Dracula; Stopping at nothing to please his master, Renfield will kill and butcher to provide a meal. He's been known to mimic the eating habits of Dracula, biting into cats and other small and unfortunate creatures. I sketched a series of different versions of Renfield, including his more hulking novel description as well as my own lanky and savage iterations.

Count Vlad 'The Impaler' Dracula is an ancient vampire and was an accomplished warrior through ages passed. I wanted to incorporate some of his Transylvanian heritage into his clothes and show off the immense wealth that he's accumulated over the years. I experimented with some otherworldly and more extreme vampire designs.

Abraham Van Helsing is a priest in training in his early 20s who specializes in the bizarre and macabre. Teaming up with a creature crafted by a deranged scientist, the pair travels across Europe, following clues leading to Dracula who is sweeping through the continent leaving a trail of death and despair. I wanted to give my Van Helsing a youthful but stern and worn down look as if he'd been down this path of monster hunting since before he joined the search.

Having been abandoned and left for dead by his father, Dr. Frankenstien, the monster searched for help in a nearby town church. Here, he met Abraham Van Helsing, a young priest with an interest in the dark and otherworldly. The two become inseparable within months and have traveled the continent, helping those with dark and demonic troubles. When designing Frankenstein's Monster I wanted him to be far uglier and poorly proportioned when compared to the Bride of Frankenstein as he was created earlier on in Dr. Frankenstien's reanimating career. However, I still felt it important to make him seem lovable and friendly.

Being born after the original Monster of Frankenstein reached out for another like him, the Bride immediately turned the Doctor's technology against himself. Grabbing a battery pack and a lightning rod she leaped from the laboratory window and fled. In time, word spread of a peculiarly hued woman that stood feet taller than any man, with bizarrely proportioned limbs. Van Helsing and the original Monster come to her aid and she joins them on their journey to vanquish the Count. I wanted to make this Monster more beautiful or normal looking to show the time between both monster's creations and the Doctor's skill level increasing.
