Industrial style interior
Inspired by a real-life lounge in NY, I created this project to challenge myself to create a scene that really evoked a warm and inviting feeling. Focusing on lighting and textures to push the scene to its full potential. I´m excited to share with you my first ArchViz project.
Hello everyone! My name is Naja Jelec. I'm 20 years old and currently in the final month of my education at the Pixl visn media arts academy, working on my first demo reel. This was my very first project where I tried to recreate a realistic interior scene, setting my main focus on shading and lookDev to really convey a certain atmosphere and look. I hope you enjoy it!
Industrial style interior
This project was a shading and LookDev focused project, where I really wanted to take my time and learn about the process of proper lighting and shader optimization to achieve a specific look. I did not just want to make something that looked as realistic as possible, but also set a specific mood. I was going for an open, warm and inviting look. I didn´t want it to look to placed and sterile, but rather lived and casual. Aspects I never thought about before where now brought to my attention and I enjoyed setting the tone of a scene with the use of textures and shaders.
I was always inspired by architectural visualization projects, where you had to look twice to tell if it is an image of a real place or a render of a 3D scene. So, I decided to challenge myself in a new way. The scene was set up with a mix of self modeled and downloaded assets. First, I made sure to get a scene that was layed out in an interesting way and had an overall good balance in terms of composition.
The first challenge was finding a composition, that worked from multiple angles and made the scene look filled, without seeming to cluttered or crowded. It was hard to find a balance that looked natural and not placed. One thing that helped a lot was working with opposites. Using the contrast between big and small objects and leaving negative space to balance the detailed parts. After I was happy with the layout it was time to add some life to the scene with texturing and shading.
Here, i really focused on colours and textures to make the scene look as welcoming and cosy as I possibly could, while still maintaining a classic and elegant style. I also made sure to break up the textures with some surface imperfections to get away from a sterile and clean CG look and make it feel as realistic as possible.

The project was modeled in Maya, rendered with Vray and finally composited in Nuke. It was created with a mix of selfmodeled and downloaded assets. The downloaded ones where from Poliigon and Chaos Cosmos. The Project was based on a architectual concept by Binyan Studio.
Thanks a lot for you attention and interest. I would really love to hear your feedback. So feel free to leave a comment or reach out to me. I really hope you enjoyed it. Have a nice day!
