Post Graduation Work

by KarlBruceArt on 20 May 2022 for Rookie Awards 2022

I wanted to share the most recent work that I had made since graduating last year. Here you will see the work I did since then which is mostly in a realistic style.

Flooded Subway Tunnel

Learning Material Creation using Substance Designer.

My most recent project that I finished a few months ago.

This project is based on a real life train station somewhere in Japan, I chose a subway tunnel as the theme for my project as it uses lots of simple tiling materials that I could learn how to create. It was also a good chance for me to practice modular workflows and vertex painting. I used Unreal Engine 5 and the Quixel Megascans Decals to add a bit more detail to the scene.

Little Nightmares 2 Diorama

Learning Lighting, Texturing and UE5.

I finished this project just before christmas last year.

The main goal of this project was to reference a strong concept art and aim to replicate it as best as possible, it was also a good chance for me to attempt to escape burn out after previously graduating a few months prior. All the modelling, texturing and lighting was done by me except for the character models which I downloaded. I did however add animations to them.

Victorian Manor Remake

Reworking my first victorian manor environment from last year.

I had planned on finishing this environment before the rookie awards ended but I only managed to finish the desk and a couple props. The aim of this project was to rework the first manor that I made a year ago and this time add more detail to the assets. So far in this rework I have sculpted my first prop being various candles and I also worked on adding slight edge damage to the table then baking it down onto a low poly.
