Character Art

by dominiqueburl on 20 May 2019 for Rookie Awards 2019

I've always had an interest in 3D character art. While most of my works are stylized I've been trying to branch out of my comfort zone recently.

Young Knight

This project was done during Brian Jeffcoat's Creating Appealing Heads class on Mold3D. The purpose of the class was to learn the ins and outs of creating appealing character faces for animation. The concept for this character was done by Hong SoonSang

Ellie

This was my second piece made for Brian Jeffcoat's class. The concept was done by Art_by_elliee

Fei Retrogasm

This piece was done for the Retrogasm 3d art competition. The goal was to recreate a character from an older video game in a more modern style. For this, I chose to recreate the character Fei from Xenogears in a more Overwatch inspired style.

Robin Iconoclast

After competing in the Retrogasm 3d art contest I've become very interested in the idea of recreating old school pixel art characters in 3d. This character is Robin the main character of the indie game Iconoclast. With this project, I wanted to get more practice with posing and presentation. So I took the time to try and recreate various poses from the game while translating the charming expressive style of the pixel art in 3D.

Bushmaster Likeness

This likeness sculpt was made at the start of the new year. I wanted to try something new and get out of my comfort zone of stylized characters.  Its inspired by Mustafa Shakir's portrayal of Bush Master in Luke Cage season 2

Triceratops

This piece was inspired by a concept by Carlos Huante. I wanted to give creature sculpting a try as its something I don't have much experience in.

Curly Ellie

This was done nearly a year after my first stylized bust sculpt. I wanted to try a new piece from the same artist and see how much I improved since my last piece. The concept was done by art_by_elliee
