World of Legends: Concepts
This is a project I worked on one year ago before starting university where I did some concept art of what would be a survival horror first person game based of many different colombian legends. These concepts use different art styles and techniques and are mainly focused on the monsters of the game.
The characters above are the following and a little bit of the techniques used to create them:
1. The weeping woman: A mother that drowned her children and herself on a river and whom her soul is now damned to look out for them while protecting other children and punishing wrongdoers. This is a fully painted illustration with a cartoonish look.
2 and 3. Mohan and Headless priest: One is a creature protector of nature but also a playful being that kidnaps men and women and feeds out of babies. The other is the soul of a priest who died having too many sins committed who scares and traumatizes wrongdoers. Both of these are totally painted and tried to have a more realistic look to fit the vision of the game better.
3. Headless priest scene concept: This is just a scene concept where the headless priest is chasing two drunk men on the night. This is mainly a collage that uses real life textures and pictures to create this scene as well as some painted light effects and shadows to help with compositing.
4. El Sombreron: A horse rider spirit with a really big hat and two hounds by his side who scares and kidnaps people in the countryside at night by throwing his which grows to cover them and disappear them. This is mainly painted with a more realistic tone but the background which was an image resource blended in the background.
