I made a short 3d animation called <The deep ocean>. Before I produce this animation, I was so interested in deep-sea and the unknown creatures. Moreover, I've always wondered what kind of creatures live in there. This is why I decided to use the theme of the deep sea.
Before I started modeling, I designed various concepts referring to references of underwater creatures
I wanted to express mysterious feeling by the whale creature, so I finally decided to put some tentacles on the whale to make it look like a whale wearing dress.
This is the storyboard that I planned at first. It's a bit different from the final version.
2. SMALL FISH
I animated the small fish using SINE to make it wriggle and MOTION PATH to make it move.
( Defrom -> Nonlinear -> Sine )
3. BABY WHALE
In every scene, I used VRayEnvironmentFog to make it look like the underwater.
I modeled stones of various sizes using Zbrush and scattered them using MASH in Maya.
When it comes to the floor and stones, I textured them in Quixel Mixer which has many useful PBR textures.
In addition, I made several ocean plants and corals using Speed Tree to fill in the empty spaces.
I put marine snow to make it look more like the deep sea. I made them using two planes which combined in a cross shape, and scattered them using MASH.
