My name is Amélie Agbo. I'm French and I studied applied art for seven long years. After obtaining my diploma, I decided to orient myself in the profession of 3D character artist in the video game industry.

Even if during my studies, we used Autodesk software (Maya, 3DS max, Autocad) and Unity3D, I had little knowledge of the technical constraints or the production pipeline. Not having the budget or the time to go to a specialized school, I trained completely self-taught for many months by watching tutorials, forums and other podcasts.

I set myself the goal of devoting myself entirely to the creation of a portfolio, comprising three characters in a contemporary universe. I took the risk of not creating several graphic styles (Cartoon, Realistic, Fantasy,) so as not to disperse myself (I risk nothing!). I designed characters that I found appealing to me and wanted to see come to life, which motivated me to put in many hours of work. The importance is to obtain the cleanest rendering possible by following the constraints of large and small studios.

Dan The Good Mother 

This character is pretty special, it's my tenth try since I started on Zbrush! It is not perfect, but I am satisfied with the result.

I wanted to create a pregnant woman, an expectant mother and also a warrior. Don't be afraid to put a bit of humour into a project !

In reality, the pose is too impossible. But I wanted to give personality to my character.

Head and body details. 

The clothes are created with Marvelous Designer, the shoes and accessories are modeling in Zbrush. Her clothing style is a mix of sportswear and futuristic.

Patty The Masking Girl

Here is a character in real time very inspired by fashion. I wanted a contrast between her very smooth mask and this young woman’s burns.

I had great difficulty creating braids under Maya. In the future, I want to purchase a tutorial to create afro hair easily.

However, I am happy with its appearance. 

I wanted her to be a hero!

The mask and the coat are the most important elements of my character.

Nick the Runner 

I was inspired by advertising spots of handicapped athletes to give Nick personality. It was my first time doing Hard Surface in Zbrush ! I wanted a clean design for the prosthesis, not cybernetic.

Realtime Hair have been placed in Maya.
