Cowboy Weapon Design

During my Stylized Design class last semester we were asked to design 5 props for a character. I decided to go for a cowboy theme and design a gun as one of my props.

First I started by looking at different guns and experimenting with proportions. Nr. 7 (the colored sketch) captured my heart relatively soon so i decided to go with it and push some aspects of the design such as  the cowtail as the hammer, charms and many other details. After a few rounds of feedback i chose my favorite designs and combined them which lead to another round of changing up proportions and positioning of details.

Dungeons of Sins and Virtues - Moth Queen Character

For our final exam in "Stylized Design" we were asked to create a  character based on an animal, a prop and an environment under the theme of one of the deadly sins or the virtues.

I decided to go with the sin greed and moths as my animal.

At first i had trouble translating my story in my design. I wanted a strong, ruthless character that you wouldn't want to approach in a game, thats when i came up with the idea that her wings are ripped and burned in places. That also lead to the wings becomming a much bigger part of the character and the silhouette changing a lot but after getting feedback from my teachers and being told that the wings and the character could be seperate silhouettes that work together to accentuate the character I went back to the character design without wings and went a bit crazy by adding more libms and details that are typical for spiders to make her even less approachable. Once I was happy with that I dedicated my time to researching different wing shapes but ultimately settled on a mix of moth and butterfly wings that incorperate some of the shapes of the character.

Backstory: My moth queen used to be a good and fair ruler until her obsession with ruling over light hit her. She sacrificed many of her subjects and her sanity in attempts to capture the light of fire. Over time her subjects left her kingdom and nowadays she's alone in her abandoned, frozen castle; surrounded by fireflies which she captured since they're the closest thing to creatures of light.

Rendezvous - Crashes Spacestation

During the end exam of my preproduction course we were asked to create a painting of an alien planet with a crashed space station.

First I came up with three concepts for my planet but ultimately decided to go with a canyon sand planet. After making some rough sketches of the space station I made a lot of thumbnails to experiment with different angles, varying stages of decay, different locations on the planet etc. None of them were "the one" for me so i chose my three favorite sketches based on fore-, mid- and background elements and combined them. Next I played with values and from where the sun(s) would shine on my scene and rendered it in Photoshop.

My personal favorite part of this painting was making the burned, broken parts on the spacestation.
