It is my first time making a full pipeline of making an animal. I have been started working on this project since April 2021. It was a really fun project I have ever made in 2021.

It is my first time making a full pipeline of making an animal. I have been started working on this project since April 2021. It was a really fun project I have ever made in 2021.

I first started to sculpt the Skull base on the limited references I have. The reason I have limited references is that if you go to Google to search Raccoon skull. You will find out that it is not much you can get on the internet. So, I have to imagine some of the parts and test them out. The bigger challenge of sculpting a perfect skeleton was to match every single bone and make sure they are able to joint together. To do so, I went through a couple of testing. For example, I will do a simple blocking for every bone. Blocking out how many bones it needed.

Sculpting a skin is not like making a piece of cake. It required a lot of references just to see how the proportion and shape are. From my experiences, every Raccoon has its own unique differences. Some are skinnier, some are bigger. I even found some furless Raccoon just to visualize how is their body proportion looks like. I also sketched a rough sketch on top of the picture to help myself to visualize it better.

After I finalized everything, I asked one of my friends, LeeJiaSeng to help me animate the raccoon base on the video reference that I found online. He is a very passionate animator, he always wanted to learn new skills, and not even a 100kg can stop him from moving forward. It was really fun to work with him, and I am looking forward to having more opportunities to cooperate with him.
