Character Art and Character Props

This is my portfolio that I did at my school, The Game Assembly, over the course of 14 weeks! I'm interested in characters and storytelling, which is what I've focused on in my works :D

Beauregard Lionett

The first project that I would like to present is my fan art of Beauregard Lionett from Critical Role!

This was a very fun but challenging project for me, since there were lots of things I had barely or never done before, like hair cards and texturing realistic clothing. The lowpoly especially was a pain, since I had to match the edge flow from one layer of clothing to the one beneath.

This was rendered in Unreal Engine 4 with ray tracing. I created a skin shader that makes use of a cavity map like in Marmoset Toolbag and a bit of fresnel to the roughness and specular to fake peach fuzz. I also created a cloth shader with fresnel and where I can assign 4 (or any number) of detail normal maps using a grayscale mask.

Futuristic Pilot's Helmet

I've always loved the aesthetics of sci-fi helmets, so I created one myself from scratch!

Making hard surface in ZBrush was definitely a challenge, but very fun and easier than I initially imagined.  While designing this, I took a lot of inspirations from fighting jets. I also wanted to add a bit of story to the helmet, which is why the back piece is of a different color, presumably an older model the owner had when they were younger, with stickers and the autograph of someone they looked up to.

This was rendered in Marmoset Toolbag 4.

Weathered Backpack

This is a backpack that I made that includes a fully dynamic rain and snow shader!

The Last of Us has incredible characters that wear these beautiful backpacks. I've always admired them so I took this opportunity to make one myself. I took inspirations from the different environments of the game and created a rain and snow shader for my own backpack.

This was rendered in Unreal Engine 4 with ray tracing.

That's everything I wanted to show! Thanks for reading through my submission, and I hope you liked it!
