Character concept of an outfit for  an intra-stellar police unit. They work primarily as an internal affairs and high-level investigative unit with a degree of autonomy. The semi-pressurized suit allows limited use in a vacuum and some ballistic protection.

Gameplay requirements helped shape some of the devices with use for an over-the shoulder or fixed camera. As part of an ongoing project, I tried to adhere to the project design language that used large, utilitarian shapes, graphics, and layered materials with analog elements.

Further breakdowns of some of the character props/items. The idea behind the disposable oxygen canisters was that they could serve as a resource to manage in vacuum-environments in game. The terminal is attached to a strap in order to be swapped with other suits/models in game (read: ever-present indicator of health status regardless of armor equipped.)

This was my ref board for the project. I tried to utilize a lot of shapes and materials that give off more of a "Space Janitor" vibe rather than a grizzled space marine. The idea was that the suit, despite being oriented for combat was more of a patrol/survival setup that had more in common with a police outfit than a heavily armored unit.  You can see how a lot of the different feels of materials made their way into the equipment from different manufacturers of parts in the suit. Ultimately, Cohesive forms helped unify the disparate elements.

One of the last early sketches that led to the final version of the suit and the last iterations of early helmets that lead to the final, simplified version. Still love some of these, but the end design fit the utilitarian aspect better and leaned away from something too aggressive for the character.
