TMNT fan art

I started with crafting a piece of scenery; heavily inspired by Chinatown's rooftops.

I wanted to include as many features as possible. You can see fire exit ladders, a water tower, ac units, and more. With all the elements ready, they needed to be textured.

I was trying to capture that feel of slight neglect and heavy street art; after that came some sketching of lights. The turtles come out mostly at night, so I looked in that direction. 

Of course, the main characters needed to be modeled too. I started with Raphael, modeled, sculpted, and textured before creating varying versions for all four brothers. The idea was to try and represent character traits in the models themselves.

Michelangelo is a bit fatter than the others and less interested in fighting.

Leonardo is the responsible one, clean but used to being out. 

Raphael is strong, and aggressive, so he is a bit more damaged than the others while being a bit bigger; his leather is also more weathered.

Donatello is thinner and taller than the others, and his equipment is in better condition. 

The turtles were rigged using Advanced Skeleton, then posed. Some more props were added, mostly weapons and pizza.

The final atmosphere was created, after the renders, by compositing the image, adding some glows, refining some lights, and using the depth pass for some fog.
