3D Art Showcase

Helena McCondach
by Helenadjvm on 31 Mar 2022 for Rookie Awards 2022

My entry showcases my growth as a new 3D artist over the past 6 months. These are projects I've created while in my first year studying for a bachelor of art and design through Media Design School. This was my first time really working in 3D and I am so happy to have found this new passion and way to create!

Foundation 3D

This project was my first time using Maya and Arnold. We had to model, texture and light a forklift from references. This was a super exciting project for me because everything was new and after finishing and seeing the end result it really gave me the motivation and momentum I needed to continue to push myself in this new medium.

Modelling

This AK-47 was created to focus on hard-surface and topology and was modelled in one week.

This human head model was created to focus on organic surface and topology and was modelled from a stylised reference. For this process, I started with the base sculpt done in zbrush, then imported it into maya where I retopologised to create a low poly which was then smoothed to create the high poly model. This project in particular sparked my interest in 3D sculpting and character creation.

Thanks so much for viewing!
