This is a short cinematic video created by reinterpreting Swan Lake. All the sources in the video were produced in 3D.

Round of applause for our sponsors

This is a portfolio that reinterprets Swan Lake and works in 3D.

I worked on both the background and the character in 3D.

It is a short VISUAL EFFECT animation work that finds the true me.

In the work, they are expressed as princesses and princes,

The prince symbolizes the unclean things that tempt us in our lives.

Early swan means the unstable "me" self.

On the other hand, the black swan is the strong "me" inside me.

In general, the villain becomes a hero in the drama by changing from dark to bright.

In my work, "Because the eyes of a swan are actually black"

It is planned as a story of a swan imitating a princess, that is, returning to its original appearance as its eyes turned black.

The story plan was set as a reinterpretation of Swan Lake, but in fact, it was created with respect to their own interpretation so that what is interpreted differently for each viewer.

In fact, the two swans may be different people who look the same...

While White Swan showed a dance move led by the prince in the beginning, in contrast to White Swan, you can see their personalities through the self-directed dance of Black Swan.

This is the initial test modeling design before dividing the Black Swan and White Swan designs.

Based on this modeling, I started designing black swan and white swan.

Both the prince and princess characters designed the anorexic body as a reference and worked with Zbrush. This is because I wanted to show the beauty of the human body's skeleton and muscle structure as it is.

Tips for working on Retology and UV for animation and texture work are not to work on too small parts from the beginning, but to work on large chunks and then to work on details.

I mainly used XGen interactive grooming tools for my hair.

The peculiar part was that the princess character's bun part was mixed with Ornatrix Hair.

Using the XGen interactive grooming tools, the tip was to get a more realistic hairstyle when a real hairdresser was working while watching a video clip of a hair cut, combing and clumping the hair into sections.

I was much more comfortable with combing than the guide and had fewer errors.

White Swan's makeup design has made many attempts.

I couldn't look too young, I couldn't look like a simple character, and I couldn't look raw, so after a lot of trial and error and reference research, I was able to succeed in the makeup that I like right now.

Actually, I think that my favorite makeup was very helpful in applying makeup textures to 3D characters.

The princesses' eye makeup was drawn and worked on by themselves.

On the other hand, Black Swan, which had a high degree of makeup completeness from the beginning, was an excellent choice to change the concept of the eyes at the end.

I liked the smoky makeup, but I liked the eyes that I boldly challenged because I thought it lacked some impact.

The unique charisma of Black Swan was displayed with pale skin and contrasting black and red eyes, along with smoky makeup.

If you're stuck in your work, I hope you try a bold challenge. That can sometimes be the answer.

Feathers were implemented as plans in the design of costumes.

After I worked on the texture of the feathers in the plan, I fixed them in the design I had planned.

In terms of costume design, Black Swan's feathers were designed to match the intense charisma. On the contrary, White Swan is designed in the shape of a gentle feather falling down.

Before I started the animation work, I conducted the lighting test first.

I checked whether the chandelier's colorful light and characters harmonize well.

The test cut came out well and I did the following work.

This is the background I worked on in the beginning.

However, I gave up putting it in the final version because it didn't blend in with the characters at the end.

This modeling was done in Maya only with hard surface modeling, and it was a modeling that worked in a very short time.

When you do repeated modeling work, you can work quickly if you first copy and paste the UV.

Background modeling was not modeled unconditionally with Zbrush, and simple modeling was done as quickly as possible from MAYA to UV work.

The background was also designed as a symmetrical ballroom according to the symmetrical characters.

Thank you for reading the long article.

I am very satisfied and proud to make my own work that is unique in the world.

It would be a great honor if my work inspired someone a little.

In the future, I will continue to create works that contain my own story. I will express it in 3D and create it.

I'll end with supporting all the artists in the world.

Thank you.
