Typan's Illustrative (Splash) Works

Brief Intro

Hi there! My name is "Ty". I'm from Hong Kong and this is my 2022 entry to TheRookies competitions for "Young Guns". 

I'm currently 17 and a soon-to-be-graduating High School student. My current goal is to one-day work within the Splash/Video Game illustration industry.

Project focus?

With my goal in mind, this project was centered around creating detailed works using various original, or existing, IPs as a base. Essentially, a splash mix between original works and fanart. 

Without further ado, let's dive in.

Section 1: Futuristic

Cain R.

This first, and my latest, piece is a splash of my cheesy Middle School OC, Cain R. I found a tattered copy of some sketches I did of the character a LONG while ago, so I drew him again!

Early on, I was actually planning to draw him in a more fantasy-like setting, but I grew more interested in a futuristic-esque environment after a while.

Ray

The second piece and its setting was actually what made me go from a fantasy-like setting towards a more futuristic one for the first character. As a result, this piece a bit dated compared to Cain. Ray's design was originally inspired from a BLACKPINK Nike shoe, but I revised his design to look more uniformed.

Section 2: Fantasy

Truth Dragon Yasuo FANART (Character belongs to Riot Games inc.)

Fantasy is always fun to draw since it's such a broad topic. This first piece was fully centered around emulating RIOT's splash style with a pre-existing skin.

The second piece is of a early High School OC, I wanted to dip into "magic" caster characters rather than the usual melee fighters I often draw.

2021 to 2022 has been an eventful year with Covid and all, and High School going online and offline has been quite the fun. Luckily, I was able to spend tons of time crafting these illustrations so here's to another year of more as I enter Uni!
