Vultan - Real Time Model
I'll be creating a real-time model of the Leader of the Hawkpeople ZULTAN with regards to the concept by Giuseppe Di Stasio. All the Best to the contestants!
Update - 16 Jul 2021
Final Update - Here are five renders created in Substance Painter and a little turntable I made in UE4. I optimized Vultan for a game environment and It works in Unreal Engine. This contest was a fun challenge and I learned a lot by creating a 3D character from another artist's concept art. Although I didn't follow the correct workflow as in creating a sculpt of Vultan and then retopologizing it in Maya. I still managed to finish it regardless.

UPDATE 05 - Getting close to the finish line, hope everyone's doing their best and not stressing too much. Here is my latest update for Vultan I created the gun and added fuller detail to the character's face and wing arms. Feel free to drop a comment and let me know what you think below. Take care!

Update 04 - It's been a while since my last update and with 20 days left I'm really starting to feel the pressure. Hope everyone else is doing okay and that the global circumstances aren't getting in the way of all the awesome work everybody is producing. Stay strong!
I managed to add some more details to the head and refined it further. I have also added further details to the arm by extruding faces and beveling edges all the while trying to get the topology right. The arm was particularly challenging because there weren't many iterations in the concept art so I had to improvise.
The lower part is fun and currently working on it. Next up I'll be creating the hand where I'll use the reference images to get a better understanding of how the hand looks. Also, I figured that the back of Vultan is not shown so I'll be creating a jetpack. Just imagine that he can use it to burst into the sky and pick off targets with his sniper rifle while using his hawk vision, I think that would be so cool!

Update - 11 Jun 2021
Update 03 - made progress on the head and started detailing some of Vultan's features. Had a bit of a close call where Maya deleted my scene but manage to rescue it. Anyway, back to it.
Update 2: Added the turnarounds into Maya and started blocking out Vultan. I am also making sure I get the proportions right as well as giving it a general T-pose for later use if it is going into a game pipeline. I had also blocked out the gun in this process. The next step will be to block out the wings that will be attached to Vultan's back. Wish me luck!

Hello Everyone! First time entering a contest in The Rookies and I will be creating Vultan in Maya as a game-ready real-time model. First of all, I have created a rough turnaround from the concept just to get a better understanding of shape and proportion. Although, there are some areas that aren't visible, and will resort to my own creative intuition. I'm not a concept artist so most of the sections on Vultan were traced. Props to the artist, Giuseppe for giving amazing and clear concept art!
