“In a world hidden under the floor boards, between our walls, and in all the cracks and crevices lives a small peculiar and fuzzy folk: The Fuzzes. Down here, between old pipes and papers, the merciless King Lint rules —making a normal fuzz-life miserable. In an attempt to free the city, one courageous lint ball, Fuzz, tries to unite the fuzz-people and start an uprising against the Evil King Lint. In his attempt Fuzz is caught and his child taken from him and locked away in a cage. Fuzz is banished and thrown out of the city, he must now find a way to the human world, to find and build a weapon that will help him get back and defeat King Lint, to save his child and free the city.”

Story

The story in our game is now about our protagonist Fuzz / player character who at the beginning lives in a world under the floor boards: The Underworld. Fuzz, his child, and the other fuzzes live under terrible conditions, dictated by the grim leader King Lint. Fuzz is thrown out of Lint City after being caught trying to start an uprising against King Lint and Fuzz’s child is locked up by the evil King Lint.
The mission of the game is to run through the house and collect 3 specific items (a rubber band, a paperclip and a bottle cap) to build a weapon.

Other Characters

Below you can see the locations of: King Lint in Lint City, next is Old and Wise Fuzz, who will help the player on the way, and last is Forge Fuzz, who will help build the weapon Fuzz needs to get back.

Environments

Below you can see some of the environments Fuzz needs to go through and collect the items he needs. He will have to climb, jump, carry, run, float, ride, hide and so on.

The Enemies

The two pictures below, are the two major enemies in this game, and these are VACUUM and King Lint.
King Lint rules The Underworld, while Vacuum is controlling all above in the Living Room, and Fuzz must be careful not to get caught, because is there a way out when you are eaten by the evil beast?

The Team behind Fuzz

Henriette Rudkjøbing Moth
Animation, level design, modelling, texturing

Rasmus Lindhardt Møller
Programming, rigging, game design, texture, lighting, vfx

Nicolas Nigro
Hair & fur, modelling, set dressing, animation, sound

We are all enrolled at Truemax Copenhagen Academy in our second to last semester.

Progress pictures below

Set up in Unreal Engine of two of the rooms, before texture, lights and only with few game play elements. A few Check Points is shown in red.

Level Design

Some of our level drawings, on top of Maya block out models.

Not every aspect of our initial level design worked in the game as we tested it, so we redid quite a few elements later on in the process.

Below you can see a few images from the first Cutscene in our game, before it was set up in Unreal Engine with lighting, texture and animation.

Work in progress

Even though Fuzz is a full game, you can play from start to finish, we still want to continue our work and get it polished more than time allowed us.

We are very glad that we chose to do this kind of project even though it took blood, sweat and tears.
Even though the project as many flaws, we are very glad for our 20 weeks progress and how it went.
We learned a lot and managed to push ourselves harder than ever before. Not once did we doubt our team and efforts, and we will gladly continue working on Fuzz.

A lot of things could have been done differently, and at the last moment Rasmus figured out that we can now work along side each other inside Unreal, if this had been the case earlier, we could definitely had done the process differently, but this we will try out in the future. The amount of work, was great, and we could have tried too scale even further down, than we already had, but we are also people who like to aim high, and it is no fun just settling. We had some great mentors: C. Michael Easton, Matthew Bett and Thomas Howalt by our side, who also wanted us to push 'Fuzz' as far as we could.

This is not 'The End’ for Fuzz, this is just the beginning.
