Matilda Gunter's Rookies Entry - 2021

Hello! Welcome to my Rookies entry!

I'm a third year uni student studying Visual Effects & Entertainment Design at CDW Studios and Flinders.

I've mainly been specialising in Character Design, Graphic Novel / Comics and Storyboarding which makes up the body of work I have here. 

CHARACTER BIOS AND DESCRIPTIONS

Over the course of this past year, I've been experimenting with how to present character information with my OCs. For a 20 hour major project in my Multimedia class I constructed a very visual representation, ideal for Instagram. I chose to do a more deuteragonist-supporting character that I hadn't developed as much, so that I could have some fun redesigning him. 

I included some of the brainstorm and progress slides below too as a nice addition. 

Recently, I decided to conduct a simple character sheet when I updated two of my main characters in preparation for a comic and storyboard. While the first attempt was good for presenting fun factoids, I reckon this was more effective in giving the viewer a simple yet more accurate summary of the character. 

CHARACTER DESIGN - DIGITAL PAINTING FACES

For Character Design last year, we mainly focused on the face and painting them digitally. Keep in mind, I'm still pretty new to digital painting but I had a few that I really liked the results of. Thoroughout the course of the topic, I named each character after a car just for fun (there was actually a pretty nice selection of names.)

The ones I picked were mainly between Weeks 5-7, they are as follows;

Abartholomew aka. Rupert - Round Brush Dwarf

Alfa Romeo - Lycan

Lotus - Zombie Queen

SHORT GRAPHIC NOVEL - CHANGE IS FLUID

Another Multimedia project I did had the option to do graphic novel pages based on the prompt of 'Change'. Given this was done last year, you can probably guess what direction I decided to take this in; very dark and dramatic with alot more playing around with digital brushes.

STORYBOARD - ENTERING THE MYER CENTRE

Last but not least I thought I'd put in a storyboard I did this semester that has actually been finished. We were supposed to base this off on how we'd exaggerate ourselves entering the place we normally have our classes in (which yes, is in the middle of a mall I know dope.)
