The Ancient Lords

Hi, I'm David Alsina and I'm a student of Concept Art at Universal Arts School. My goal is, thanks to my studies, to be able to work as a conceptual artist or illustrator and be part of big productions.

Ever since I was little I have always loved art in general but there came a time when I wanted to take my hobby further. Being in my third year studying comics I realised that I wanted to be part of the industry. I saw the goal as a very distant future or almost impossible to achieve, but somehow I see it getting closer and closer and hopefully with the passing of time I will be able to dedicate myself to what I love doing the most.

Next I will present you my concept art project that I am doing for the end of the course at Universal Arts School.

The project is The Ancien Lords, a role-playing game with a classic fantasy atmosphere.

I take references from video games such as Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, developed by Ninga Theory or Assassin's Creed: Valhalla by Ubisoft. I also took documentation from Norse and Celtic mythology.

For this environment I used references from paintings made by Zdzisław Beksiński.

These are some of the thumbnails and shapes I made based on Viking and Celtic references.

I also include one of the props in which you can see the scale with respect to a character.

Finally, there are the character designs, which are studies I carried out on their silhouettes, values and volumes.

It is also accompanied by a character that is in line, both on the front and on the back.
