Unreal Engine Game Dev
This is a collection of projects that I have created and rendered in Unreal Engine.
I am Nick Morello and these are the various projects that I have been working on.
This first project is part of an environment for a stylized game I am developing. I am modeling in Maya, and building the game in Unreal Engine. The game uses both old and new methods of game dev because it uses a 32x32 tilesheet for many of the assets. The game is in a 2.5D perspective and uses a camera with a focal length that helps to reduce perspective distortion.
For this project I created multiple post processing shaders and environment effects such as rain and moving foliage.
The shader graph above uses panning normal maps to distort the screen UVs. This creates the effect of rain on the camera lens.
Below is a demonstration of my rain post process material and particle system.
I also created a post process material for a posterization effect. I think the light banding that it adds helps with the stylized theme.
Below is another render with some camera panning and a comparison of the final render with the lighting
These are some additional projects that I have created in Unreal Engine, Maya, and Substance Designer.
Stopwatch:
I modeled the stopwatch and created its textures in Substance Painter. The final render is in Unreal Engine. I made .svg files in Adobe Illustrator and extruded them in Maya for some of the more intricate components.
Winter Environment:
I created a winter environment in Unreal Engine using many texture maps which I made in Substance Designer. The environment also features particles and an underwater split post process.
Sci-fi Hallway Environment:
In this project I designed and created a modular sci-fi hallway. It was modeled in Maya, textured in Substance Painter, and rendered in Unreal Engine.
Shipping Container House:
I modeled this project in Maya, textured it in Substance Designer, and rendered in Unreal Engine. I have included a final render and a render with just lighting.
