Queen Eemirée and Jericho Interceptor
Hello everyone, I am glad to share with you the two personnal projects I did aside of my graduation movie From Above in ArtFx. Those two projects were my way to improve my knowledge of photorealistic asset creation.
I will start with a bit of background: Eemirée is the queen of an extraterrestrial planet called Malito. She is a very powerful warrior but also a melancholic being as she faces violence and absurdity of her kin.
This project was a playground to push further my knowledge of character art and experiment new technics such as grooming in houdini. I learnt a lot through this project since it dealt with many aspects of CG creation (organic modelling, hard surface, clothes, lighting,...)
Greyshader / Topology / Albedo / Specular / Final
One of my challenges was not to use any XYZ map. Everything is sculpted an textured by hand. I hope to have better results in the future but this choice allowed me to learn much more about how skin works than if I had used scans as a base.
This ship was my way to dive back into hard surface after being more involved into organic modelling. I chose to make a fan art of the concept by Vadzmin Makaranka for Star Conflict (https://www.artstation.com/artwork/lDmaz). I was quite fund of its style and silhouette. I tried to stick as close as possible to the proportions but I had to invent some details to gain interest on certain areas that were too plane.
UVs + Wireframe / Roughness / Metalness / Albedo / Final
I will conclude by saying the ship was a lot of fun to work on, and I would have liked to push further the texturing in order to add storytelling.
However, character art remains my main focus and I hope I will soon join the industry in this department.
I hope you enjoyed my projects!
