Finding Rei is a 2D Point & Click Adventure game for the PC that features a young girl named Iris, who steps into a journey of her past by wearing mysterious masks and retracing her diary, all to find her missing best friend - Rei.

This Game Demo was created as a thesis project in the School of Game Development at the Academy or Art University. I developed all of the gameplay, levels, art, and scripted the game in engine.

For gameplay development, I started by constructing my ideas to puzzle diagrams/level maps, making sure that I have my full demo laid out before I started developing  in engine. Even in engine, I started very basic with a simple blockout to make sure all the mechanics are working before continuing further to implement all the art assets.

For art, I was looking to make a hand-drawn art style for the game, which was developed through the process on making all the UI elements for the game. After making a style guide, I was able to pinpoint how the art was going to look for the overall game style and atmosphere.

Lastly, I created animations and cutscenes to polish up the transitions and story for the game to make the demo feel more complete. The style follows the gameplay art style and showcases the cutscenes like flipping through a child's storybook.

I've learned a lot from this project and I am really proud of how it turned out! You can check out the full gameplay with the demo video below or feel free to experience the game by downloading the build (For windows PC only): LINK HERE
