A Whole Other Story
Architecture is a visual art and the buildings speak for themselves. -Julia Morgan
Introduction
Even if you’ve been speaking english for your entire life, depending on where you are studying, the dialect could be almost impossible for you to understand right away—and hard many times to explain. I am a junior studying architecture, and since my early studio classes, I knew it was hard for me to lay out and set forth my ideas on the table through words. This was the earliest phase for my explorations into visualizations as a tool to better communicate my designs and focus on the details of the spatial qualities. As the title says, I am a self-taught artist, and so does not carry any expertise in any, but proficiency in some. Being an architecture student, I started with revit, then Lumion, followed by vray, enscape, and finally two months ago stumbled upon 3DS-max. The designs presented below are a collection of all, and most of them are straight through the render engines, with some minimal adjustments in Photoshop.
Visualization is not my major and I never primarily focused on it, but it is definitely a key tool in creating and analyzing my own spaces.
Space between Art and Architecture
This is a pavilion designed for a sub-urban town. The design sits on the naturally raised ground next to the preserved structures, the key idea in this render was to capture the diversity of structures on the site and highlight the future which rises through history. The important factor was to reflect the weather of the town on a cold winter day, through similar colors and lighting, to create a dramatic effect. (3ds max/Lumion/ Photoshop)
Minimalistic Kitchen
The kitchen design is conceptual and on imaginary grounds. I have always liked the super white combination with the rough finish of light wood. I feel these are the strong blends of lights and shadows, I primarily focused on the materials and the mood of the space. I wanted early morning lighting before sunrise, to capture the freshness and calmness of the space when unused. (3ds max/Arnold Renderer/Photoshop)
Studio 21
The primary approach while creating this space was to focus on the natural lighting into a concrete block at different times of the day. The calm blue vs the warm afternoon show the different work experiences the same space and materials can provide at varied times. (3ds max/Arnold renderer/photoshop)
The Kayak Center
The project from Winter this year, showcases the kayak center designed for a town. The main objective in these renders was to capture the sense of the town and its natural weather which makes it a tourist destination, as well as highlight and attract tourism to the facility. The design of the facility is original and designed for the school. (Lumion/Photoshop)
BLVCK Closet
Inspired from the heavy contrasts of black and white and their fascinating play with each other. (3ds max/Arnold renderer/photoshop)
Contemporary Space
Includes some conceptual designs that helped me progress and explore through 3ds max and study different material and lighting qualities. (3ds max/Arnold renderer/corona renderer/photoshop)
There is still a lot to explore in this field, but I hope you enjoyed my entry!
