by rossanadiez on 31 May 2021 for Rookie Awards 2021

Hello! This entry is a collection of my best work that I have developed throughout the past year at Ringling College of Art and Design. My focus is 3D Animation while showing my Generalist capabilities in the development of the final product!

Short-lived

Taking this from start to finish through the pipeline, I focused on the fundamentals of character animation and its mechanics while still making the character and set appealing! I am responsible for all aspects of this project.

                                                      Chika

A confident yet sensitive girl on the track team that                                                                                               just wants her moment to shine.

An exercise to test Chika's blend shapes as well as an animation exercise to have her go from an A to B emotion change which in this case was sad to happy!

Another animation to showcase Chika's personality through her walk as well as her body behavior in reaction to something off camera.

Early concept sketches to find the character's personality as well as pose exercises to demonstrate emotion through silhouette. These poses were also done to test Chika's rig which was created using Advanced Skeleton.

A turnaround of Chika to showcase her model and design. Modeling was done heavily through Maya and Zbrush; meanwhile, all texturing was done through Substance Painter, Photoshop, and of course Maya.

Worm Your Way Out!

This is a simple poly animated short that, once again, focuses on the principles of animation. I am responsible for all aspects of this project.

                                                     Pew

A young, reckless duckling that listens to his desires and his desires only.

Progress work from concept to modeling of Pew!

A turnaround of Pew showcasing his design and model. He was modeled heavily in Maya with small details done in Zbrush. Texturing was done through Photoshop and Maya.

Chomp In, Mario Out!

A ball bounce animated short developed at the start of my second year at Ringling College! This project focused heavily on the basic fundamentals of animation. I am responsible for all aspects of this project except the ball rig (provided by Ringling College of Art and Design).

Early storyboarding for the project, as well as experimenting with composition and lighting!

Lighting, Texturing, & Compositing

This is a project that revolved around lighting, texturing, and compositing a bedroom. I am only responsible for those three aspects!

The set and props were designed by David Tousek and modeled by David Vacek!

See the change in focus of the hero objects yourself!

Hero Object A: Dumbbell

Hero Object B: Guitar
