Food As A Love Language
A majority of Malaysians grew up in an household whereby love is rarely demonstrated through verbal or physical means but felt through food. 'Food As A Love Language' is an Augmented Reality experience aimed to highlight this unique Malaysian culture.
‘Food Is Our Love Language’ is a concept project proposed as part of my final year project in The One Academy’s school of Digital Media Design. The product was designed with Kloe Hotel as a client in mind. The final deliverables consists of a Tiffin Carrier + an Accompanying App.
The Insight
A majority of Malaysians grew up in an household whereby love is rarely demonstrated through verbal or physical means but felt through food.
The Concept
The concept is to use Chinese New Year themed dishes to represent the Five Different Love Languages. With the help of Augmented Reality technology, users are able to be immersed into the scene and be reminded of the good times associated with the specific dish.
How It Works
The product takes the form of a five compartment tiffin carrier. Each compartment has a different Chinese New Year themed dish which represents a different Love Language.
1. Scan the QR code attached on the tiffin carrier.
2. Launch the AR app.
3. Scan on any of the 5 compartments
4. Watch the scene come to life through animations and audios.
5. Tap on the objects on your screen to see additional interactions.
The entire project was created over the span of 22 weeks. The process included ideation, research, production and heaps of testing. The digital assets were created using C4D and the AR portion was done through Unity3D.
This project is an homage to my Malaysian upbringing. I hope it managed to shine a light on my culture. Thank you!
