Rococo Shooter Concept
Concepts for a Rococo-Era-inspired Shooter-World-Exploration game I made in one month after hours.
The whole project started with these two weapon designs I did for fun. I was thinking about what kind of style/world I would like to explore in a game. I thought about hybrid aesthetics like steam- or cyberpunk, that's how I ended up with a Rococo-inspired shooter.
I wanted to explore the luxurious side of the Rococo era. This movement's whole concept was defying nature as we can see in this era's fashion choices. These could be seen in women's silhouettes enhanced with wide panniers, the obsession with white hair at a younger age, and outstanding moles on the face. Their mindset "against" what nature provided for humankind is what gave me the little push to merge this breathtaking era with heavy weaponry.
Here I have a breakdown of the Pannier that made this era's iconic silhouette possible. As you can see on the side, there were slits open for access, and these spaces were used as pockets. The possibilities of what all could fit in there is just up for the imagination and a game's logic. I like to think about it as a deadly Lady's inventory.
These big gowns that are made of several layers of clothing couldn't hold any more secrets, can they? Stays, which were the forefathers of today's corsets, were also a key part of women's silhouettes. They supported the posture, helped holding up the heavy petticoats and gowns, therefore they could also easily hold secret weaponry for dire situations.
