Cyrah's Ascent - Environment Vis Dev
Concept art for the student game Cyrah's Ascent. In this project, I take you through the process of development in creating the visuals and world building of the game.
This is the first concept that sparked it all. While very different to what the visual style of the game ended up becoming, the stone walls, the copper structures and the bright emissive power sources became a staple in our game.
The key art that developed the final look of the game. The game relies on cool tones with warmer colors creating visual contrast. The lighting sets the sombre mood of the game.
Here you can see some of the color explorations of the core colors of the world. The purples and blues of the environments, copper-y oranges of the large structures, and deep magenta of the foliage gave a balanced looked to the world.
This painting depicts the first story beat of the game. Cyrah stares upon the shrine she has put up to commemorate the loss of her people, who were once an advanced and powerful civilization.
Some of the prop sheets made for this project. Do to the smaller scope of the project and the limited man power we had, I designed many of the assets to be able to be used as both an interior and exterior modular asset.
Last, but certainly not least, the inspiration and references used to create many of the worlds of this project.
