The Fighting Duo
In the DnD universe, this duo of misfits fight wrong-doers and monsters that terrorize the defenseless villages at the outskirts of kingdoms. These characters were created for a school project. They were done during the span of 4 months.
The Fierce Duo
Meet Gloria and Chad!
Gloria is a stubborn and sweet half-orc barbarian and Chad is a calm and egnimatic tiefling monk.
Chad the Elegant
Chad is a tiefling whose devotion in life was to become a monk. They were mistreated in their childhood since they looked like a demon. Chad thought becoming a monk would help them break the stereotypes, but they realized that the only way for them to get rid of prejudice was to help others. They joined a small guild that helps people all over the kingdoms.
Chad's style is based on the DnD 5e Edition of a Monk's and Teifling's descriptions. Their style is also to conform with demands from the production team and to go well with the surroundings.
My team and I wanted to create an androgenous character who would break gender roles while kicking ass.
Although we knew early in the design process we wanted a svelte looking character, the challenge with these concepts was to not fall into stereotypes while keeping the concept of a tiefling familiar. Their shape and presentation had to be evocative of who they are and clear. I think the final design does a good job of showing the character who they are.
Gloria the Stomper
Gloria is a half-orc who lived peacefully as a blacksmith in a small village with her wife. They had a small shop in which she would sell pieces of armor and weapons she had all made herself while her wife would play music and sing songs in the streets around. When Gloria's shop burned down, the couple had to find other sources of income. They went from one village to another, helping in any way they could the forgotten people of the countryside. They met Chad and proposed to join forces to help the helpless.
Gloria's style is based on the DnD 5e Edition of a Half-Orc's and Barbarian's descriptions. Her style is also to conform with demands from the production team and to go well with the environment of the production.
My team and I wanted to make a giant wall-like character who would be imposing but also soft. My intention was to make her backstory pop and show her personality through. She would be scary for her opponents and approachable by her guild and loved ones.
Early in the production, we knew we wanted to have the stereotipical brainless barbarian that is found in every DnD guild. It came naturally to make her female, and it was a challenge making a character that reads barbarian without making them half naked.
This character was especially challenging for since I don't ususally make warriors. However, when it came to me to give her some sort of overalls, I became obsessed with this outfit, which reads as a fighting outfit as much as a blacksmith outfit.
