Awaiting Odysseus - 3D Short Film

Immortal and imprisoned, Calypso yearns for Odysseus, the man she loves, to return to her - unaware of the fact that their story came to a close long ago. With inspiration taken from Homer’s Odyssey, ‘Awaiting Odysseus’ is a short film that explores the themes of isolation and longing through the account of one of the many women left with unfinished stories in the wake of Odysseus’ heroic journey.

Awaiting Odysseus was made as a solo project for the final year of my BDes in Animation at Ulster University, and it aims to showcase the creative and technical skillset I have developed during my time on the course.

Narration recorded by the talented Charikleia Mari, written by Caroline Hughes.

Aimeé Kirkham-Priester helped with some animation on the project.

Some Quixel & Epic's Unreal Engine Marketplace were used, as well as some custom models made by myself, Patrick Faulkner and Michelangelo Cellini.
