慈欢

慈欢 is a group ip that I worked on during my time in college. The story is set in rural china where sprits and ghosts exist. A lonely evil spirits one day comes across an abandoned baby boy in her forest and decides to raise him. For a short while she obtained happiness but that happiness was short lived.

I designed the secondary main character Li Yang. He is the abandoned baby that the spirit found and raised. He is designed as a child that is naive and doesn't know much about the world outside of the forest he grew up in, hence he is very curious. His skin complexion is much paler than how most humans would look because he was designed to be wearing some amount of face powder so as to say he is trying to mimic how his mother looks.

The Yumekui is a gentle spirit and one of many spirits that resides in the forest the mother spirit and her son live in. It is designed with the idea of being blind, but can detect the differences in good dreams and bad dreams so it uses that ability to move around.

The Sealing Bow is a prop I designed to go in a pair with another weapon. The main themed was that there is gold and jade, so I added the jade element in as engravings across the body of the bow itself.

The Oboroguruma is actually a spirit that is in the shape of a cart with 2 flaming wheels. I wanted to make something different that the average cart so I decided to have it function as a spirit in addition to being a vehicle.

The noodle house is one of the locations in the village. I wanted to play with having a display in the centre of the place so I designed something that would fit the theme of a noodle house, thus a noodle bowl fountain.

Keyarts that I was in charge off for the ip. I handled the part where the spirit mother was attacked by the villagers and one before she met the abandoned boy and had a longing for motherhood.

The promotional poster art I worked on for the ip itself. The idea was to show the 2 main characters as if they were isolated in their forest as the spirit mother would not be accepted by the normal villagers.

Astral Projection

A personal ip project of mine that revolves around an astrology academy. I wanted to play around with different personality types based on their chosen astrology sign in which they study, each character also has their own astrolabe that represents themselves.

Dancing In The Wind

Another project I did but this time in a more stylized style. I studied native american culture for this project and so I designed a dancer that inherited those culture points. Many of the other elements were also used in the creature and environment itself.
