Project Brief

This project is fully inspired by the company’s logo, Cisco which consists of nine blue stripes. In reality, the blue stripes take form from that of a bridge, in this case the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge in which the company’s headquarters is located at. Taking the keywords of both the circular looking stripes and the keywords inspired from bridge, suspended , circular steel poles became the main attraction and support for the furniture. “Linking” the furniture to the ceiling, such as the bridges are links two main lands as well.

Client Brief

The office space in this interior consist of two core departments of the Cisco Systems company to ensure the smooth running of the business. The departments are IT /Engineering Department and the Department of Professional Services. The main requirement of the space by the clients is to create a workspace with collaboration between colleagues as the main working method, therefore, the layout of the interior can be seen maximizing the full opportunity of the space given to ensure that the employees of Cisco Systems are able work in collaboration at all times.

Case and Precedence Studies:

Using the keyword connectivity, the main idea is to connect the whole layout from floor to ceiling; interior to exterior visually hence studies are made on "suspended tables" and how they benefit the office layout. Besides, to intergrade the furniture into a space with versatility of working positions such as sitting and standing.

The Main Feature:

Located center of the entire interior is the flexible working space. Amid the pandemics, one of the Cisco’s representative stated that employees of cisco company comes to office not to work, but to collaborate, therefore the location of this space is in the center to allow better accessibility. Developed from the logo of cisco’s software and the flow of the cisco’s logo, the tables are constructed in three different circular sizes. Here, The biggest tables are integrated with the medium-sized tables, so that employees are able to choose a place which meets the number of people accordingly. For an instance, if two employees were to hold a discussion, they can simply choose the smaller tables to discuss their ideas. While more people are joining in the discussion, they can fill up the rest of the tables and join in the collaboration. Thus, this increase the versatility of the space and allows users to utilize it according to their purpose. Two pairs of individuals could hold discussions separated by the biggest table as well. The smallest table is suspended from the ceiling to provide users an option to stand while collaborating. Lastly, separating the two parts of the space is a movable large sized white board. Not only the white board serves as a writing space during meetings, but the employees are also able to separate the whole space into smaller discussion area simply by moving the white board between the tables. Vice versa, if the company is holding a big brainstorming session, the white board is moved further so that two spaces are merged to hold collaborations together.
