Hello everyone, I am happy to present to you several projects made at New3dge school.

abandoned Japanese classroom

My main focus with this project is to show the abandoned feeling of the scene. It's empty but not totally, it's not old but more vintage, it's dusty but not destroyed. I needed to find a good balance between all those elements.

The scene takes place in the 1960s. For many years now, people have started to leave the countryside and for the first time in human history, half of the world's population lives in cities.

Look Dev is one of my favorite steps in the creation process. I used procedural shaders in VRay and textures created in Substance Painter.

Ready Player One - Hallyday's Attic

For this project, i get inspired by a shot from Steven Spielberg's movie: Ready Player One. This scene takes place in Halliday's Attic. The time frame is around the late 70's I think. I shifted the time period around the mid-'80s.

It was really interesting to search for all the details: NES cartridges, movie posters, video games, books, VHS, comics, the first mobile phone, furniture... You will have recognized the carpet pattern... It took me 15 days to go from searching references to the final grading images.

In the original shot, the sun hit the room through the curtain, creating a strong contrast and a beautiful atmosphere. I tried another approach with the moon hitting the window. For me, the night brings new stories, it's a time when you open a book, start to watch a movie, or enter a new adventure with a video game.

You can slide from Clay, Wireframe, Specular and BumpNormals maps.

It was a pleasure to work on a beautiful shot from such an entertaining movie. I hope you like it.
