Hello! These are some snippets from my Intro to Maya class at Ringling College of Art and Design. I just finished my first year of college and I'm super excited to share my first 3D projects with everyone. Enjoy!

Liri's Winery

Welcome to the winery of Liri, a retired young man living out in the European countryside. Enjoy some wine while you pay a visit!

This was my first environment model and final project for my Intro to Maya class at Ringling. I made sure to keep the topology clean and push the appeal in 3D space. I'm proud to say I created a dwelling I would love to live in!

A lot of research went into this project. Check out this callout sheet with my original design, plus some initial size measurements to keep the model's scale accurate to the real world.

Here are some more details. I wanted the winery to feel grounded and real, so I created a grand variety of materials and made the dwelling look weathered and lived-in. Still, I made sure to maintain a stylized shape language to create an appealing and unique environment.

The vegetation in the vineyard was created by modifying Paint Effects to create variety and keep a naturalistic look, while not taking away attention from the architecture. I used MASH for the grass clumps. This was before I knew how to use xGen, which would have made this process much simpler!

Carlos

Here is my first character model and first xGen groom. He's very anxious around people, but loves a good cup of coffee and tends to have his nose buried in a book. A very large book, that is.

Same as with the environment, I created a callout sheet and a turnaround before jumping into the 3D space. I planned a lot in order to make his personality communicate through his design.

This was a fun project to tackle. The crazy proportions led me to creative solutions in order to keep the topology clean. All modeling was done in Maya, and the texturing in Photoshop.

This is my first time using xGen. After the semester ended, I revisited this character model to update its textures and make this fun groom!
