Eye Flower Sequence
This is a short sequence and exploration of procedural modeling and VFX in Houdini. It was created for the 2021 Advanced Film Class at Seattle Academy.
One of the biggest challenges of this project was creating a realistic, procedural eye (specifically the iris).
Iris Creation Steps: Generate velocity field & simulate particles, turn particle trails into a mesh, repeat 2-3 times with modified settings
Point attributes based on particle ID, mesh ID, trail length, etc. were stored and used for texturing.
I initially started this project to explore architectural modeling. As my interest in procedural modeling and Houdini grew, I thought it would be a great model to recreate procedurally and destroy with an RBD sim.

Final Distruction Simulation
This was the first full project that I ever did in Houdini. Fantasy/Sci-Fi VFX were what got me interested in VFX in the first place, so this was a really fun project for me. It taught me a lot about the basics of Houdini, proceduralism, compositing, camera tracking, and much more.
