The Forest Legacy

The Forest Legacy is a scene I decided to put together after modeling and texturing The Hover Knight by Bryan Van Der Linden.

With the Hover Knight character on hand, this was the perfect opportunity to explore Speedtree and Unreal's landscape and foliage tools to create a cool environment.

After completing the textures in Mari, I went on to create the environment within Unreal Engine. The power of its landscaping and foliage tools associated with real-time rendering made the whole process of building the environment super intuitive. The forest was then exported to Maya so I could render with Vray using its sun and sky system. And finally, I brought the result to Nuke for some final touches in compositing.

Based on The Hover Knight concept by Bryan Van Der Linden, I took this character as an opportunity to explore and learn Mari as a texturing software. Thanks to the power of the node-graph, all the materials were created procedurally and could be re-used and applied to other projects.
