‘Hard to find but lucky to have'

Where a small ghost child is surrounded by a world of darkness. When all hope is lost and she feels like no one will ever see her, someone does and brightens up her world. So, what happens when that ball of light is stripped away from her.

This short film is about loneliness and needing a friend. It shows that its ok to be feeling lonely and wanting someone to be there. However its also a film about losing people you care for and the uneasiness of not knowing when you will see them again. The message is shown through the story of a little ghost girl who manages to find someone who brings colour into her life.

The story is about a girl who has just died. She's thrown into a world that’s pitch black and finds out she's a ghost who people walk through. She starts to get upset and angry before someone, Sam, walks into her. As Sam walks into her, Colour floods into her world. Sam not noticing she's a ghost, helps her stand up. When they notice, Sam goes to back off but only gets pulled into a distressed hug from Demi. Once Sam realises they're in no danger, Sam accepts the hug. Through the day they play together becoming friends until its time for Sam to go home and they Gift Demi  a badge. The colour follows Sam  leaving Demi in the darkness until the badge she has starts to glow giving her a little bit more vision.

The next day, Demi plays by herself as Sam didn’t turn up. Even though she has vision, she's still not satisfied. What she wanted was someone to see her, she wanted a friend. Motivated, she stands up and plunges herself into the darkness . 

Demi

Demi is a 10 year old ghost who has freshly died. She's plunged into darkness, confused at what she is and alone. The people walking into her make her feel small and all she wants is for someone to acknowledge her existence.

When Sam bumps into her and the colour floods back into her world, she doesn’t want to let him go. After spending the day together she learns to trust him and lets him leave at the end of the day because that’s what friends do. After Sam gives her a gift, it gives her a bit of vision so she is not left in the dark like before. However, when Sam doesn’t return the next day, Demi wants more than just colour in her life (or is it afterlife?), she wants a friend. With new courage and on a mission, she sets out to find her only friend.

Sam is a normal 10 year old human just going about their normal day. Sam's a kind kid and all they want is to make other people happy.

Always eager to help, Sam  finds themselves befriending someone who no one else can see. Is she an imaginary friend or a ghost? Whatever she is, it doesn’t matter in the end, at least now Sam has someone he can call a friend.

The only thing Sam wishes they had was more time but like all human 10 year olds, Sam has to go home before their parents start to worry. What Sam didn’t intent on happening was dying on the way home. A ghost, currently confused and lost in an unknown darkness alone.
