Hotel Mykines
Hotel Mykines - a concept of an imaginary hotel at Faroe Islands
The hotel project is a concept of an imaginary hotel at Faroe Island assigned to me during my education year at YRGO. We were given a lot of freedom and the design and architecture were up to us students. The only criteria were that the hotel should be adapted and fit for the location we were given. In my case, this location was Faroe Island.
A hotel room at Faroe Island should be the place that you love to get back to after a good hike, for a warm-up in front of the fire stove or just a time to relax in bed, maybe with this fantastic sea view.
Concept: Scandinavian interior design with a base of material such as concrete and plywood-like walls.
When I created this room, I wanted the whole space to feel like you are inside one of all these mountains that you can find on the Faroe Islands. Therefore I choose moody lightning and raw concrete material to represent the cave. As a contrast in the picture, I put large windows for more openness. The idea was to make you feel like you are almost hanging over a cliff and a chance for the hotel guests to come closer to nature.
