Game assets: Progess of mine edition
Hey, I was introduced to this world of 3D this year. As my contest entry, I am gonna go with 4 projects that I did this past few months. I started my Journey of 3D modeling from January with CG Spectrum.
Concept art used as reference was Turret number 3 from https://www.indiedb.com/games/2112td/news/development-update-8-introducing-the-machine-gun-turret-family
So as a Practice I decided to try texture this turret. I was in awe that how texture change everything about the model.
Render in Iray. 4K tris.
Second Project: This is something I made when I wanted to try new things with Substance Painter. As I never used any 3D paint software before, this was a whole new world for me. I decided to model something which I was thinking for a long time i.e a tire that shoots hence "RoboTire". No fix concept art for this, I mixed with using various references for engine or tire from Google Images.
I rendered this in Iray too. This one has 61k tries. Model Scale twice the size of Bike tire.
Third Project: Till now every project was high poly baked on low poly model. I was curious about how High poly assets are baked and textured. So I watched and read some tutorials and decided to give it a go.
Again with my love for robot looking objects, I decided to go with a TV that walks.
Used the concept art reference of https://www.artstation.com/alexzaragoza.
Render in Iray. Scale around avg height of normal TV. Gave more geometry around and legs for fun animation someday. At this stage I was enjoying using HDRI environments.
Now I was started to getting familiar with importing the maps in Maya so I used this project to give it a try.
Render in arnold. I was still getting familiar with the lightning, this was fun honestly, finding the problems and controlling the lights.
Fourth Project: I was watching an anime and I saw a wagon. I wanted to create something similar and wanted to challenge and push myself a bit more. This one turns out a big project for me and gave me opportunities to learn more.
I found the concept art that I used as reference on https://in.pinterest.com/pin/683773155894062070/.
Render in Arnold Maya. Tris 51k. I tried to make it as low poly as possible. At this stage I was getting more familiar with lighting. Scale the model around twice the height of avg human.
That's it for my entry. I chose this 4 projects mainly because they show my current skills and level. It ended a bit long which I didn't expected but I enjoyed myself making this entry.
Thanks and questions, critiques & feedback are always welcome.
