Round of applause for our sponsors

After graduating from college last summer I still felt like I wanted to continue learned and growing as an artist, I I have spent the last year working on these three pieces of environment art to grow and enhance my skills!

Fishermans House

This Fisherman's House project was a massive undertaking for me! I really used this project to step up my modelling, sculpting, and texturing skills. I learned a bunch of new techniques and researched different workflows to try to get the best and most efficient final result. Doing this project in Unreal Engine allowed me to also get practice doing animated textures and using particle effects to make little fire fly effects around the light on the building. Before doing this project i was super intimidated by substance designer, all of the nodes and options made me feel super stressed out, so another way I wanted to challenge myself was to make some of the textures using substance designer! Im really happy with the way this project turned out and proud of the obstacles I overcame to get this super cool final result :)

Rock House

For this Rock House Project my goal was to take the skills that I gained in the Fisherman's House Project and transfer them to a smaller more contained environment! I used this project as way to polish some of my zbrush skills and used a workflow where I made a greybox in Maya and then transferred that to zbrush to get nice organic shapes for the windows and door parts. I also used Unreal engine for this project which allowed me to build a custom toon shader for the outline, I also used various lights and post processing effects to really give this house a middle of the desert feel without the viewer actually being able to see the desert.

Info Bot

This Infobot prop project was a huge learning experience for me! I wanted to make it quickly so I gave myself a deadline of 14 days. On top of that I had to do hard surface modelling in SubD which I've never done before. I also don't make a lot of models that are really dirty or grungy, so that made texturing this a lot of fun. Overall I'm very happy with the way this turned out and feel much better about my skills after finishing the project!
