I’ve always had a passion and interest in animation, from around 2nd or 3rd grade in the mid-90’s. This was further strengthened by a growing interest in art and cartooning and being influenced by the tidal wave of adult and teen animated sitcoms from the 90’s to the early 2000’s. Initially I didn’t think I could afford an education in animation, because my only options were in New York and California, so I studied graphic design. Eventually, SCAD began offering animation courses, and after that, I found out about their financial aid offerings. At 24 I went to SCAD and got a BFA in animation and worked freelance in Atlanta for a while. Wanting the option to teach and harden my educational background, I returned after a year and a half for grad school, but switched to Motion Media because of its openness to experimentation, and as a way to consolidate my graphic design and animation backgrounds.
