When I first the movie Transformers, it blew my mind away seeing them in a live action movie. I grew up watching Transformers Armada back in the days so the live action was the best thing that happened to me. After which I only focused on one goal which was to be good enough to work on a Transformers movie.

My heart beats for studying everything and anything I can in this world. From biology, mycology, cultures, arts, technology, initially I pursued the medical industry and even shadowed under 2 doctors to try to sate my curiosity...but realised that Visual effects career can integrate my skills in almost any industry, and study every macro or micro detail of our world in any field of study. I want to bring art, science, and accurate researches of the natural world to make vivid fantasies.

Hi, my name is Philipp. I am a texturing/lighting/lookdev artist from Cologne. I always had a great passion for photography and drawing and dreamed to pursue a career as an artist one day. I was really inspired from the movie Avatar I watched back in 2009. At the age of 13 I started to experiment with Autodesk Maya and Cinema 4D. I have recently graduated from Pixl Visn Media Arts Academy and I am currently looking for any new opportunities! For any requests, feel free to contact me!

I've been drawing since I was a little kid, but I realized I wanted to make visual effects around 16-17 years old. I was super curious about how to make the effects I saw in the movies I wanted to be a part of it !

I first wanted to start working in this industry when I saw the 1950 French fantasy film Orphée five years ago. The film is a contemporary retelling of the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus, and it involves a famous poet falling in love with Death who is played by María Casares. The film uses simple special effects to create amazing worlds and mystical events. When I saw this film I knew I had to work in this industry so I would be able to create the miraculous things I saw in this film.

In the movie: Contact, the young protagonist rushes upstairs to the medicine cabinet in her bathroom in slow motion and the camera moves “through the mirror.” When I first watched it, I didn’t think much of it but when someone pointed it out to me, I was really curious how it was shot so I read interviews of people who worked on the movie. I thought they were coolest people and their jobs were so fun. I wanted to be a part of that excitement so decided to switch careers into VFX.

Every time I got to watch behind the scenes of the making of any animated movie I knew it was a place where I wanted to be at one day. I was around 14 when I discovered you could actually go to a school that would teach you these skills. I have always loved both movies and games so I just couldn't see myself doing anything else but that. I am just dying to get out there and make new worlds, stories and characters come to life!

Ever since I was young, drawing and creating was always the most fun aspect of my life. There was a natural progression of wanting to do more and more to take my art to the next level. Switching from traditional to digital made everything possible. Spending time at Gnomon helped me sharpen my skills into the artist I am today. As I begin my journey in the industry, I'm excited to grow even more doing what I love because art is all I wanted to do back then and it's all I want to do now.

The main reason that made me jump into this field were movies. The first movie that affected me was "Avatar." The mystery forest from the movie was fascinating and kept me surprised. The second one was "Iron Man" series. The most impressive thing was Stark's various ways to wear his Iron man suits. I loved every detail from the movies. Watching movies has been my favorite thing, and I want to experience how movies are made in the future.

I've always wanted to work in film in some capacity. Growing up, I watched every movie I could get my hands on. When dvds came out with commentary, I watched those daily until I knew them by heart. Finally someone introduced me to Gnomon it was like when Neo sees the matrix for the first time. All my interests and skills suddenly fit together to complete the puzzle and I knew what I had to do.

Staying up late every night drawing, I had always wanted to be involved in the arts in some shape or form. However it wasn't until after I took an introduction in 3D Rendering course that I realized the power of computer graphics as another medium and how deeply related it was to my love for films and games.
