How Entering The Rookies got this Guy a Job in Visual Effects

Hello everybody my name is Misha Kolbe and I am the Runner-up “Student of the Year” in the Visual Effects and Animation category of 2015. Right after school I started work in a small studio back home where I worked for one year.

I’m really glad I did because I wouldn’t be where I am now without this contest.

The guys from The Rookies got me in contact with the right people in the film industry and that’s how I got my job at Double Negative – London at first and then Double Negative – Vancouver where I work on movies such as Wonder Woman and The Mummy Villages which was really nice.

It was interesting because at first I didn’t want to submit my demo reel to The Rookies because I didn’t think it would be good enough for the contest, luckily some of my fellow classmates convinced me otherwise. I’m really glad I did because I wouldn’t be where I am now without this contest.

If you feel like submitting, then I wish you the best of luck and see you around.
